The new Engine 1 arrived today at the Westerly Fire Station on Union St. The new truck was manufactured by Pierce Manufacturing. The new pumper is a 2023 Saber Pumper with 1500 gpm Hale pump and a 750 gallon water tank. Engine 1 is equipped with an onboard Class 1 foam system and 30 gallon foam tank. 4 discharges are foam capable. The new engine was designed with firefighter safety in mind. The main hose bed is only 62 inches off the ground allowing firefighters to remove hose without having to step on to the vehicle. Next week radio equipment will be installed and equipment mounted. Training for the drivers will be conducted next Friday and Saturday. The truck will be placed in service once all this is complete.

The former Engine 1, 1998 Pierce was sold to the North Kingstown RI fire department for use as a spare.
