Big shoutout to Mr. McKenna's construction class from Westerly High School!

A few months ago, the Westerly Fire Department envisioned creating a training tool on-site to enable our firefighters to perfect their roof ventilation skills without the necessity of traveling out of district for this vital training!

Enter Mr. McKenna and his talented students. With just a rough sketch from our team, they turned concept into reality, crafting a pitched roof simulator that's nothing short of amazing.

On March 27, 2024, they brought their blueprint to life at Station 2. The result? A top-notch training aid that's exceeded all our expectations. But it wasn't just the construction that impressed us; it was the professionalism, focus, and behavior of the students. A true testament to the standards Mr. McKenna instills in his classroom.

To Mr. McKenna and his incredible students: THANK YOU. Your hard work and dedication have not only supported our firefighters but have also showcased the spirit of community and excellence at Westerly High. Job well done!
