Around 0526 on Friday, July 26, 2024, Westerly Dispatch received a call of a possible structure fire at 9 Batterson Ave. Westerly Police arrived shortly thereafter confirming a fire in the building and successfully evacuated the residence. Chief Mackay declared a first alarm and crews quickly deployed a 1 3/4" handline for an internal attack.

The fire was knocked down within minutes of being on scene and companies stayed on scene for approximately an hour mopping up and checking for extension.
