At 11:03 AM on Sunday, March 9, 2025, Westerly Dispatch received a report of a structure fire at the corner of White Rock Road and Cottage Street. Car 32 arrived shortly after, confirming an active fire and requesting a first alarm.
Engine 4 arrived at 11:09 AM, securing a water supply and deploying multiple hand lines. Ladder 1 ventilated the roof, while Engine 1 deployed two additional hand lines. Engine 3 pumped the hydrant, supplying a water supply for Engine 4, Engine 1, and PFD Tower Ladder 45.
At 11:16 AM, a second alarm was called, bringing in additional resources from Pawcatuck Fire Department, including an engine, tower ladder, and additional personnel.
The fire was brought under control within an hour, with crews remaining on scene for several hours for overhaul.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause.
