Town Council Honors Chief Sayles for Championing Local Veterans

The Westerly Fire Department congratulates Chief (Ret.) David A. Sayles on receiving a well-deserved Appreciation Award from the Westerly Town Council.

Chief Sayles was honored for his tireless dedication to our veterans through his work with the Rhode Island Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub, which he co-founded 12 years ago. His efforts have brought hundreds of local heroes to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials built in their honor—ensuring their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

Whether planning trips, arranging transportation, leading fundraising initiatives, or supporting veterans’ families, Chief Sayles has consistently shown unwavering dedication to those who have served our nation. His passion and leadership remain a source of inspiration for us all.
